I'm barely 7 inches high off the ground. I'm scared and shaken, hungry and cold and I don't know where to go. I try crossing what seems like a massive divide between me and the other side. I barely manage half way and monstrous objects with glowing yellow eyes, making strange noises rocket past me, almost squishing me out of existence.I somehow reach the other side and with my bones rattling I settle down in an unsettling world. Then I see him...
So I saw this little guy, barely a month old, trying to cross a street. I had to shout a couple of times to avoid people running over him as I ran past the maddening crowd of man and machine to get to him. He lay there shivering, his large liquid eyes trying desperately to find some form of understanding. I approach him cautiously and settle down to his level, well almost. And I just wait for him to accept me. He looks at me with desperate pleading eyes, so I offer him my palm, facing up, inching towards his nose. I want him to know what I'm doing and that I mean no harm. He sniffs it and with surprising agility for a month old hungry pup who has just crossed a nightmare of a traffic, lunges forward right under my legs and curls up into a small ball.
I stay there, motionless, for about half an hour, stroking him all the while. When I realize I can't sit no more, I slowly pick him up(he is asleep) and carry him to a place I know is much more forgiving.
The pack accepted him withing a very short time. Maybe they saw potential in the little guy.
