The journey from Mumbai to Goa contains a lot of tunnels being dug into the Western Ghats.
So I'm sitting on the edge of the steps of a train moving at a 10,000 miles an hour and everything is just a senseless blur. Each time a tunnel comes, all I manage to do is hold onto whatever I can because I'm just being blown away by the sheer tornado of wind hitting my face, which is literally being smothered like a sandwich. I'm actually inside a train's slipstream. All I can hear is this thundering all consuming roar of wind around me like a billion rock concerts and a contrasting but rhythmic clinking of the train's wheels which kind of punctuates the wind scream rather nicely. It all adds up very well, I tell you.
Amidst all this chaos and turbulence, with my camera flying all around the place, I manage to point it in the forward direction and press the shutter a couple of times. And I get this...
Its so beautiful, what I see. The spiraling mixture of wind and light which merges ever so softly with the contours of the train, as it exits out of the tunnel, I keep doing it for the next 6 tunnels.
One actually has to be there to witness it!!
